How it works
Two wavelengths of cold laser light, one simple protocol
The Lunula is a non-thermal, Class 2 low-level laser designed specifically for onychomycosis. Instead of burning tissue, it uses light to change how the nail bed behaves.
The dual-diode approach
Two laser wavelengths work at the same time. The 405 nm violet diode provides the antimicrobial and antifungal effect, while the 640 nm red diode supports the tissue response — helping local immune activity and blood flow so the nail can grow back clearer and healthier.
Both beams are shaped into a rotating line rather than a fixed point. That spreads photon energy evenly across the whole nail unit, including the matrix at the base of the nail where new growth begins. Treating all five toes at once means no handpiece to manoeuvre and no operator-dependent technique.
Because the wavelengths sit at the low end of the spectrum with constant-wave output, no clinically meaningful heat is produced. The laser passes through the nail plate without damaging the nail or surrounding skin, and the patient feels nothing during the 12-minute session.

A treatment session, start to finish
Position the foot
The patient rests their foot on the device platform. No nail preparation, anaesthetic or debridement of the nail plate is required beforehand.
Run the pre-set protocol
The treatment cycle is already programmed. Staff press start and can leave the room — there is no handpiece to hold and no operator technique to master.
Repeat four times
A standard course is four 12-minute sessions. New clear nail then grows out over the following months as the nail plate replaces itself.
Why clinicians choose it
- Painless, with no downtime and no recovery period
- No heat, so no burns, no smoke plume and no anaesthetic
- Runs unattended — your chair time isn't consumed
- Suitable for patients who can't take oral antifungals
- FDA 510(k) cleared and listed on the ARTG (386651)
- Consistent protocol, so results don't depend on operator skill
